Memorial services for Dennis D. “Chunky” Blouin of Ellendale, MN, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Ellendale, MN. Pastor Randy Cirksena will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dennis died Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Owatonna Hospital. He was 64 years of age.
Chunky was born November 20, 1952 in Owatonna, MN, the son of George and Jean (Matthies) Blouin. He attended Ellendale public school and had been a resident of Steele County most of his life. On March 22, 1975 he was united in marriage to Glenda Herbst in New Richland, MN. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ellendale, MN.
Chunky had been employed by Continental Castings in Albert Lea, the Ellendale Coop, farming, scrap work in Wisconsin and for over 33 years with Viracon in Owatonna, MN. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, ice fishing and woodworking. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan!

Bruce Edward Hesse died at age 83 on October 20, 2017 in Golden Valley, MN.
The son of Lester “Bud” Hesse and Myrtle Wilson Hesse, Bruce grew up in Benson, MN, and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1952, Saint Olaf College in 1956, and Luther Seminary in 1960.
He served Lutheran churches in Keewatin, MN, Joliet, IL, and Detroit, MI and then worked in social work administration after earning in 1976 a Masters Degree in Social Work Administration at the University of Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Rotegard Hesse, children Greta (Bob) Gauthier, Peter (Elizabeth), Joseph (Julie) and Michael, and nine grandchildren.
Services at Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata, MN, on October 27. Interment in New Richland, MN.

Dale Curtis Jacobson was born in Waseca to Reuben and Ellen Jacobson on November 6, 1942. He grew up on his parents’ farm situated near St. Olaf Lake.
After graduating from New Richland High School in 1960, Dale enlisted with the US Air Force. He completed basic training in San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas, after which he spent three years at Rhein-Main Air Base near Frankfurt am Main, Germany, as a clerk typist and file clerk.
After completing his tour of duty, Dale returned to New Richland and, over the years, was employed by the Huntting Elevator Company, Birdseye, Herter’s and Bakken’s Boat Shop.
In 1972, Dale and Rhonda Sandretzky were married. The marriage ended in 1984. Dale and Rhonda had two children, Scott and Stacey. In recent years, Dale, Rhonda, and their children came together nearly every week for family time.

Shirley A. Thompson, age 81 of Faribault, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Faribault.
Memorial services will be held at Hope United Methodist Church, Faribault on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Dana Houck officiating. Interment will be at Clarks Grove Cemetery.
A memorial visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the services on Friday.
Shirley A., the daughter of Thomas and Iris (Shorey) Thompson, was born December 16, 1935 in Steele County. She was previously employed as an L.P.N. at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, Saint Louis Park for many years. Shirley loved to travel throughout the world.
She is survived by two sisters, Judith Thompson and Betty Lageson, both of Faribault and a brother, Dick Thompson of Albert Lea and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in law, Gerald Lageson and a sister in law, Janice Thompson.

Zenobia “Nobie” Jane Haberman, age 90 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Friday, October 20, 2017 at Allina Health System in Owatonna, Minnesota. Zenobia Jane Vernes was born January 29, 1927, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota the daughter of Hans A. and Sara (Nelson) Vernes. She attended elementary school in Blooming Prairie and graduated from Franklin High School in Portland, Oregon in 1945. Her family had moved to Portland in 1942, so her father could work in the ship yards. After graduation, Nobie worked for a retail credit company and PBX until returning to Blooming Prairie in 1955. On December 18, 1965, she was united in marriage to Henry Haberman at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on the Haberman family farm. Nobie enjoyed having her grandchildren visit and loved to cook, bake and mow her large yard. She was a member of Community Lutheran Church, its Rebecca Circle as well as a Women’s Bible Study. She especially enjoyed going to her Saturday morning coffee group. After Henry’s death on November 3, 1989, Nobie continued to live on the family farm until her death.
