Richard Howard Maywald
January 7, 1932 – November 4, 2017
Richard was born in Baker, MT and raised on a farm in Hartland, MN. Dubbed “50’s Einstein” by his high school classmates, Richie attended Grinnell College and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Geological Engineering. He moved to Grand Forks, ND to work for the ND Geological Survey. There he met and married Dorothy Nordstrom and was promptly drafted into the US Army. After serving for two years in Fort Polk, LA, Richie joined Texaco Oil and the two moved to Houston, TX where “Dick Maywald” began his long career as an Exploration Geophysicist. Daughters Ruth and Julia were born.
Family life took a sharp turn towards international adventure, with assignments in Calgary, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Norway, Nigeria, and Trinidad, and brief stints in Portugal and London. Shortly after daughter Ruth was tragically killed in a car accident, Dick and Dorothy returned to Minnesota in 1993. There he became known as Richard and immersed himself in genealogy, politics, the YMCA, and Servas International, an organization dedicated to intercultural peace and understanding. Summers were spent at Turtle Lake. His calling card read “have suitcase, will travel” and through many trips, he pursued his deep interest in the world’s great religions and cultures.
After Dorothy died in 2003, Richard moved to Bellevue, WA to be close to daughter Julia and her family. He joined the local YMCA and Unitarian Church with his friend Katherine, took classes through OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute at UW, participated in Great Decisions, dabbled in art, traveled with his friend Donna, and settled into his favorite role as Grandpa. In 2011 he was diagnosed with Vascular Parkinson’s Disease and in 2017 with advanced prostate cancer. Although these afflictions robbed him of his physical abilities, they did not dampen his spirit and desire to live life fully.

Funeral services for Beverly J. Moen will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Reverend Shane Koepke will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Central Freeborn Cemetery, rural Albert Lea.
Beverly passed away at her home of natural causes on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was 85 years old.
Beverly JoAnn (Wangen) Moen was born on July 9, 1932 in Riceland Township, MN to Charles and Irma (Johnson) Wangen. She would attend and later graduated from Albert Lea High School. On May 25, 1956, she was united in marriage to Cleon Moen at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea. To this union, two children were born.
Beverly and her family lived in New Richland and Albert Lea, and Beverly has lived at Whispering Oaks Assisted Living in Ellendale for the past two years. She took care of her children and her home. Beverly was also the church organist at East Freeborn Lutheran Church for a number of years, and also was involved at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland where she would help wherever she could with the music program. Most recently, Beverly was a member at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
When Beverly was younger, she liked to go ballroom dancing with a group of her friends. She enjoyed going to movies at the movie theater, and she very much enjoyed spending time around the lake, or at the pond at her home where she lived for a number of years. Above all, Beverly enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Beverly was a child at heart, and loved playing with her children and grandchildren. She can be described as a fun loving grandma with a good sense of humor and liked to have fun! She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and always cherished the times she spent with her family.

Funeral services for Elinore M. Possin, age 92, of New Richland, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1001 9th Ave. SE, Waseca, Minnesota. President Bradley Donnor will conduct the service. Interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery in New Richland. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Elinore died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at The Beacon in New Richland.
Elinore M. Possin was born September 16, 1925 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the daughter of Julius and Martha (Martin) Prescher. She attended school in Wells and then Blue Earth, when the family moved there. On June 23, 1944, Elinore married Erwin F.W. Possin in Mapleton, MN. Elinore and Erwin farmed near New Richland. After retirement, they lived in Hartland. Later she moved back to the farm before moving into The Beacon in New Richland. Elinore enjoyed genealogy and family history, reading, gardening, and traveling. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She spent time volunteering at the New Richland Care Center.

Funeral services for Nancy TaBelle, age 80, of Hollandale, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner will officiate. Nancy died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, Minnesota.
Nancy Elizabeth Larson was born August 22, 1937 at her home near Hollandale, Minnesota, the daughter of Maurits and Annie (Dunn) Larson. Nancy grew up on the family farm. She went to country school through eighth grade and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1955. She graduated from Sioux Falls Baptist College and taught school for several years. Nancy married Donald TaBelle and later divorced. Nancy worked at the Blooming Prairie Creamery for several years. She then moved to Rochester and worked for a trucking company. She had many good friends in Rochester.

Eleanor “Ellie” Jean Anderson, 84, of Owatonna, died Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Prairie Manor Care Center.
She was born February 1, 1933 in Lemond Township the daughter of Herbert and Mabel (Hanson) Wodrich. Eleanor graduated from Ellendale High School. She married Arthur Anderson June 16, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed with Art's dad and lived on the farm near Bixby. In 1966, they moved from the farm to Bixby. Eleanor worked for Tincher Peterson Sincock Insurance Agency before starting her 25 year career with Jostens and later worked for Mast Machining in Bixby. Following her husbands death, Eleanor moved to Owatonna where she worked for Barker Law Office and United Way.
Eleanor was a member of Senior Place and bowled in league for several years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church until moving to Bixby and then became a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie.
Eleanor enjoyed dancing, playing cards, crocheting, watching polka dancing on TV, playing games on her computer and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino with friends.
