Jerilyn Knowlton, age 69, of Mabel, formerly of Canton, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 near Mabel from injuries received in an automobile accident.   

Jerilyn was born Oct. 15, 1945 in Preston, Minnesota to J. Wesley and Nelda (Larson) Knowlton. She attended the Prosper and Canton Schools.

Jerilyn ran the family business, the Sportsmans' Chalet, in Canton from 1975 to 1985. She was a people person and enjoyed the many jobs that she had in the hospitality industry. Her presence could light up a room and she loved to socialize and share funny stories with everyone. She was a member of the Scheie Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

Jerilyn is survived by three children, Kevin (Bertha) Franzen of Winona, Minnesota, Karla  Franzen of Preston, Minnesota, and Kelly (Mark) Bartness of Ellendale, Minnesota, partner in life Larry Benson of Mabel; 10 grandchildren, Angela, Melissa, and Travis Franzen, Autumn Peterson, Kayla (Jack) Eiken, Krista and Nicole Wangen, and Noelle, Nicholas, and Holly Bartness; three great-grandchildren, Joey Peterson, Bryce Alderman, and Nadia Eiken; siblings Jerry Nolan (Patricia) Knowlton of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mary Jane "Janey" (Dwight Scrabeck) Afseth of Harmony.  She was preceded in death by her husband Grant Grubb, husband Jerome Bangs, and her parents andgrandparents. 

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m, Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.

Burial was in the Union Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was 4-7 Friday, Sept. 4 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel, Minnesota and one hour prior to services at the church.
