Blooming prairie hosted the Gopher Conference cross country meet Monday, Oct. 16.

For the boys, Devon Nelton is the individual conference champion, taking first place with a time of 18.49. Teammate Jacob Karl took third, clocking 19.00. Jackson McGannon was 23rd (22.26), Owen Flatland 42nd (25.01).

The NRHEG girls’ team finished in fourth place with a score of 112.  Maple River took the girls team title with a score of 58.

The top finisher for the Panthers was Julieann Wobbrock, taking third and getting first team all-conference honors with a time of 21.57.

Ella Jeno gained an all-conference honorable mention nod by finishing in 18th place with a time of 24.26. Rounding out the scoring for the Panthers: Holly Bartness 25th (25.18), Annabelle Petsinger 32nd (25.57), Madison Corkill 42nd (27.51), and Amelia Duryee 60th 31.18.

“We finally had a healthy girls' team to score today,” said NRHEG coach Larry Nydegger. “Julieann ran a nice tactical race, chasing down a WEM/JWP runner during the last mile of the race. Ella battled back from injury to run a fine race. And our veterans Holly and Annabelle had strong performances as well. The goal was to finish in the top five. And they did it! I am so proud of these young ladies! Devon and Jacob were strong, as they have been all season. It's nice to have a conference champion at NRHEG again! Congratulations Devon!”

The section meet will take place on October 26th at Norwood-Young America .
