Gerald (Jerry) Stencel, 81, of rural Waseca, MN passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral Home in Waseca (711 N. State St, Waseca). Visitation will continue one hour before the service at church on Friday. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Waldorf, MN. Interment with military honors will be at St. Joseph’s Community Cemetery.

Warren Craig Torgerson, 82 of Geneva, MN, passed away peacefully, with family by his side on September 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Warren was born on July 22, 1940, to Francis and Frances “Jane” (McCormick) in Albert Lea, MN.  He was raised in Geneva, MN and attended Ellendale-Geneva schools where he played football, basketball, and baseball.  Following his graduation in 1958 he attended Mankato State University for one year and then returned to Geneva to work.  On October 29, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Fischer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Meriden, MN.  Warren and Mary continued to live in Geneva to raise their son, Craig.  Warren owned and operated the Geneva Standard Station for many years and later became an Amoco bulk agent.  Warren was very involved within the community and served on the Geneva Fire Department, coached the little league team and was a baptized and confirmed member of the Geneva Community Lutheran Church.  In his spare time, he enjoyed a round of golf, playing on a fast pitch softball team and bowling league.  A yearly trip to the Laughlin/Las Vegas with his wife hosted years of memories for the couple. 

Mark Steven Manthe, age 74, of rural Waseca was called to his Heavenly home on September 9, 2022. 

Mark was born on November 26, 1947, in Mankato to Elmer and Frieda (Precht) Manthe. He attended Waldorf-Pemberton High School where he graduated with the class of 1965. Following his education, Mark enlisted into the United States Air Force and honorably served his country from 1966-1970. During his time in the service Mark was stationed in England and South Carolina where he worked as an engine jet mechanic. On June 20, 1967, Mark married his high school sweetheart, Joan Roesler in Wells, Minnesota. Together they raised two children, Angela and Justin and made Waseca their lifelong home. In 1975, Mark began furthering his education at the University of Minnesota – Waseca Campus where he studied business.

Renae H. Christopherson, age 68, of Hartland, died Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus, Rochester with family by her side.

At Renae's request, no public services will be held.

Arrangements are being completed by Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.

Renae Helen was born January 20, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Helen Marie Trottershaud and Jacob Longfors. On January 31, 1977, Renae was united in marriage to Glen Melvin Christopherson. To this union two children were born. The family made their home on Glen’s family farm outside of Freeborn. Renae was a stay-at-home mom, who enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family. Renae also enjoyed her pets, baking and cooking, and nice clean home.  She was a member of the White Earth Nation Reservation and was very proud of her American Indian heritage.

Dorothy Elizabeth Swanson Demmer Gulbrandson entered her heavenly home on September 2, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Home in Windom, MN.  She was born July 25, 1919 to Gifford & Ruth (Olson) Swanson on her grandparents home near Hartland.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Hartland Lutheran Church.  She attended school in Hartland through 8th grade and then graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1937.

She married Wallace Demmer on September 29, 1937.  They were parents of one daughter, Rebecca Jean.  Dorothy was a full-time Mom and also worked on the farm.  They farmed near Hartland until Wallace’s death on February 7, 1981.  She then moved to Hartland in the house that her grandmother had built and then lived in by her parents.
