Memorial services for Faith (Faye) Swenson of New Richland, MN, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Scott Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Peter Cemetery.

Faith died Sunday evening at St Johns Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, MN, she was 82 years of age.

Faith was born October 25, 1928 in Waseca, MN, the daughter of Fred and Etta (Davis) Born. She attended country school in Waseca. On November 12, 1949 she was united in marriage to George M. Swenson in Waseca, MN.

Remembering the life of Russell L. Witke….

 The funeral service for Russell L. Witke, 16, of New Richland, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 13 at Vista Covenant Church, rural New Richland. The Reverend Steve Thompson will officiate. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. Friends may call at Friedrich Funeral Home from 4-8 Sunday and one hour before the service at the church.

Russell died as a result of an auto accident near Matawan, on Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

 Russell was born on August 5, 1994, in Waseca, Minnesota the son of Russell L. and Cathy (Klaus) Witke.

He was a student at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva High School, participating in baseball, football and basketball. Russ enjoyed hanging out with his many friends, and making them laugh.

Russell is survived by his mother Cathy, brothers Brett Cully, and Robby Witke of New Richland, a sister Michelle Witke, also of New Richland, and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father in 2005 and his grandparents.                              

 

 

Kevin J. Kyte, age 28 of Northfield, died at his residence on Saturday, June 4, 2011.

 Born in Oelwein, Iowa on June 5, 1982, Kevin was the son of Joseph and Bonnie (Harms) Kyte.  He attended NRHEG schools and graduated in 2001.  Kevin had worked for McClane’s and Menards in Northfield, and was most recently working in food service at Carlton College.  Some of his passions included waterskiing, shooting off fireworks, wrestling, working with children, playing baseball, and watching Twins and Vikings games.  He was a member of Christ Community Church in Waseca, where he was involved in the Loving Through Serving Ministry, children’s Sunday School and ushering.  Kevin is also remembered as a wonderful son, brother and uncle.

 


Funeral services for Marvin Andrew Lageson, age 86, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 at LeSeuer River Lutheran Church. Rev.  Marvin died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center surrounded by his family.

 Marvin Andrew Lageson was born on November 8, 1924 to Edward and Lydia Lageson.  He attended school in Ellendale and farmed on the family farm.  He enjoyed dancing and met his future wife Linda Flink at the Terp Ballroom in Austin.  They were united in marriage on May 23, 1959. From this blessed union 5 children were born.


George William Byron, age 87, of Byron Township died on June 3, 2011, at Immanuel St Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy, Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in New Richland.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, from 4 pm to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to services at the church.

George was born April 14, 1924, to Mary Elmira (Conway) and William E. Byron in Waseca. He was brought up on the 1856 Byron homestead farm in St. Mary’s Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. George attended the Gallagher Country School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waseca. He began farming, and during WWII his assignment was to stay home and produce food.  On August 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Munsch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Mary’s Township, Waseca County. The Byrons farmed and raised their family of seven children in Byron Township, Waseca County, near New Richland.
