NRHEG Secondary principal of 10 years, David Bunn, has resigned effective with the end of the 2022-23 school year on June 30. His resignation was accepted by the school board during its May 15 meeting.

In a letter written to staff, Bunn said that he has decided to “pursue new opportunities.” The change, he said, is “the right one for me at this stage of my life.” His wife, Jennifer, will continue as a teacher at the NRHEG Elementary site; his three children, twins Payton and Parker, and sixth-grader Sofia, will continue attending school in the district.

As for Bunn, his letter said he considers to weigh his options as the school year winds down. “I need a change in my life,” his letter told staff. “This is the best way to accomplish it.”

He also said, “I have been honored to lead this school for ten years, and it has been an incredible journey. I have had the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated and passionate individuals who continue to make a significant impact on the lives of the students who pass through our doors. The relationships that I have formed with each and every one of you over the years have been invaluable to me, and I will always cherish them.”

The district has begun the process of searching for a new principal and will be interviewing candidates within the next couple of weeks.

Bunn observed, “I have no doubt that NRHEG will continue to grow under the leadership of a new principal, and I wish you all the very best for the future. Please know that I will always remember my time with fond memories, and I will carry those incredible memories and lessons that I have learned with me as I set out on this new journey in my life.”
