Star Eagle seeks veterans photos

In observance of Memorial Day May 26, the NRHEG Star Eagle will publish a section dedicated to our defenders of freedom. Area veterans or family members are encouraged to bring in photos of veterans in uniform from all branches of service for inclusion and the recognition they so justly deserve. The deadline for photo submission is noon, May 16. Hartland declares May 10 Poppy Day

The Hartland Legion Auxiliary met Monday, May 5, 2014 at Village Inn. Hartland is proclaiming Poppy Day Saturday, May 10th. Members will be accepting donations.


Waseca Relay for Life meetings May 15

A Relay For Life of Waseca County Committee meeting is set for 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15th at Faith United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Waseca. A Relay For Life of Waseca County Team Captains meeting will be held from 6:45-7:30 p.m.


Waldorf activities set for this weekend

Waldorf activities for May 9th and May 10th: plant sale at the Community Center from 8-10 on May 10th, Bake and Book Sale at the Library from 8-11 May 10th, and Garage Sales on Friday ,May 9th from 3-7 and Saturday from 7-11. Coffee and rolls available at the Community Center Saturday morning.


Recipe contest winner to appear May 17 at New Richland Library

New Richland Public Library will host "Healthy Lunchtime Challenge" winner, Kaitlyn Kirchner of Madelia, MN, Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. Kaitlyn won a kids’ healthy recipe contest with her recipe for "Garden Stir Fry." She attended an event at the White House with more than 50 other junior chefs. All kids that were in this Healthy Lunchtime Challenge contest were ages 8-12 years. Kaitlyn won as a finalist and thereby was selected to visit the White House. It was a nationwide recipe challenge to promote healthy lunches as part of the First Lady's Let’s Move! Initiative. The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge & Kids "State Dinner" recognized 54 winners, representing all U.S. states, three territories and the District of Columbia. Please mark this exciting event on your schedule for May 17.


Geneva Lutheran meatball dinner May 18

The Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, MN will be hosting its 12th annual Meatball Dinner on Sunday, May 18th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. following worship service at 10 a.m. To be served: meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw, rolls and pie. The event is a free will donation. Raffles of $1 will be available for a chance to win a beautiful homemade quilt. 


Hartland Lutheran VBS set for June 1-5

Grab your secret decoder ring and put on your rearview mirror glasses, because this year at VBS, your kids are heading to the International Spy Academy, where they’ll train to become special agents for the one true God! International Spy Academy VBS will be held the evenings of Sunday, June 1 through Thursday, June 5, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Hartland Lutheran. At International Spy Academy your children will uncover clues that lead to an understanding of the one true God of the Bible they can carry with them for the rest of their lives and share with those around them. Children going into pre-school through 8th grade this fall are welcome to our Vacation Bible School.
