Easter Bunny to be at Willows Sunday

The Easter Bunny will be visiting The Willows on Sunday, April 13. Local Girl Scouts (Bri, Elizabeth, Cecelia, Maci, and Maurya) will provide you a picture with the Easter Bunny for $5 during brunch. The Easter Bunny is happy to take pictures with anyone, young and old! The girls are raising money for a trip to San Francisco in 2015. Spread the word!


Al Batt to speak at NR Library April 30

As the April calendar is turned over, all the residents of New Richland should be marking their calendars for the Wednesday, April 30 evening with Al Batt at the New Richland Public Library. Al will arrive around 7 p.m. and speak to promote his first book. "A Life Gone to the Birds." He is a well known speaker of nature, plants, and birds. The New Richland Library is fortunate to be hosting this event. He will sign books. If you want a great gift for a mom, grandmother, dad or grandfather or even yoursel, be sure to come and get a copy.


Free program, ‘Diabetes and your eyes,’ April 14

ALBERT LEA, Minn. — A free program, “Diabetes and your eyes,” is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Albert Lea and Austin’s Health Reach campus, 1705 S.E. Broadway, Albert Lea. Keeping eyes healthy is important to everyone and can be challenging if you have diabetes. Dr. Leonid Skorin, Jr., ophthalmologist will share specifics on how to keep your eyes healthy when diabetes is a factor. The program will cover:

• Eye problems specific to diabetes

• Importance of routine eye exams

• Proper treatment of eye conditions

• Preservation of eye sight

First Lutheran to present ‘Living Last Supper’

First Lutheran Church in Ellendale will present the “Living Last Supper” on Holy Thursday evening, April 17 at 7 p.m. at the church. The disciples are Ross Sletten (Andrew), Arlen Brekke (James the Elder), Dan Carroll (Matthew), Larry Jensen (Thomas), Jerry Thompson (John), Jack Harpel (Philip), Jeff Schmidt (James the Younger), Andrew Benson (Thaddaeus), Andrew Braaten (Peter), Rod Goette (Judas), Victor Mrotz (Simon), Andrew Lerberg (Nathianel). Russell Reistad will play Jesus and the narrator is Rev. Richard Sliper. Nate Jensen will sing “In the Upper Room.” The disciples will serve communion to all who profess faith in our risen Lord. Norrine Jensen is the coordinator with Barb Mrotz, Ginger Thompson, Kari Harpel, and Rea Sliper assisting with costumes and props. CE to sponsor ‘Monsters & Millionaires’ tour on May 9

Join us as we take a bus trip to tour some of the most exciting, historic secrets in the Twin Cities.   We will tour the Wabasha Street Caves which are notorious for being home to mobsters in the 1920s and 30s. Our next adventure will be the popular Gangster (Crook’s) Tour. We will explore the sites of nightclubs, kidnappings, and gun battles associated with the 1930s gangsters like John Dillinger, Ma Barker and Babyface Nelson. Lunch will be at an exciting restaurant that compliments our theme of the day.  We will then proceed to the American Swedish Institute where you will tour one of the most amazing architectural buildings in Minnesota. This trip is guaranteed to be a very memorable experience for you. Nominees sought for Farm & City grand marshal

The New Richland Farm and City Days Committee is seeking nominations for this summer’s Grand Marshal. Each year, the committee works to identify an individual that plays an active role in making New Richland a great place to live! If you know someone that deserves this honor, we ask that you submit a letter of nomination describing why you feel this person should be named the 2014 Grand Marshal.
