Who is “Frosty?” Where is the Medallion?

Identify Frosty — or find the Medallion — and win some cash! Prize money totaling $3,000 is waiting to be won, $1,500 for the Frosty Contest and $1,500 to the finder of the Medallion.

Frosty is a Waseca County resident chosen to be an ambassador for the Waseca Sleigh & Cutter Festival. Follow the clues and guess Frosty’s name.

Grand prize is $325. If you are at the official unmasking at 9:30 p.m., on Friday, February 7, 2014, you will win an additional $50. First correct guess from Janesville, New Richland and Waseca win $125; and if you are at the unmasking you will win an additional $50. Four lucky winners at the unmasking will win $100 each. The first clue is:

From Walter Hagen

I took my advice.

Two score later,

Life’s pretty nice!

The second clue is:

I’m now travelling

down Route 66

With a trio of grandchildren

in the mix!

The third clue is:

Fresh! Spacious!

New! Improved!

Up to par

now that we’ve moved!

The medallion is hidden outdoors, on public property within Waseca city limits. A $1,500 prize of Chamber Dollars and store certificates will be awarded to the person who finds the medallion. Bring the medallion to Charlie’s Hardware. Clues will be published each week in the Waseca County News and New Richland Star. Clues will also be broadcast on KORN and KOWZ radio and will be available online at Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce at This email address is being protected from spambots. The hunt is sponsored by Waseca Hy-Vee, Charlie’s Hardware, Waseca County News, First National Bank, KOWZ/KORN radio and Waseca VFW Club 1642.

This year’s clues are written in song form. Sing the lyrics to the tune of ‘Winter Wonderland’!  Be sure to save each of the five weeks’ clues until the entire song is complete. Happy hunting!

Week One Clues:

Time again, for exploring

Read all clues, no ignoring

Then get on outside

The medal now hides

In this Sleigh and Cutter wonderland

Icy ground could cause slipping

And the temps keep on dipping

Most banks are steep

And snow is quite deep

In this Sleigh and Cutter wonderland

In the distance you hear traffic flowing

Travelling east and west across the town

Where you’re standing only wind is blowing

Mother Nature makes the only sounds

Week two clues:

You see one…intersection

You can go two directions

Set out south or north

Just stay on the course

In this Sleigh and Cutter wonderland

All around, fallen branches

Do you dare take your chances?

If you’re in a slough

You could slip right through

In this Sleigh and Cutter wonderland

Week three clues:

Look around at the chaos

Down below, you could get lost

A shipwreck of trees

Left there to freeze

In this Sleigh and Cutter wonderland

You decide—should you go there…

Or stay up where the path’s bare?

Just forge on ahead

Let’s put it to bed

In this Sleigh and Cutter wonderland

In the gully you see mass uprooting

Caused, no doubt, by movement of the ground

If you go there, you could lose your footing

Only worth it if the prize is found
