Marilyn Reistad, age 84, of Otsego died on March 13, 2024 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.

Marilyn Reistad, the daughter of Howard and Irene (Eaker) Hanson, was born on April 21, 1939  in Waterloo, Iowa. They moved to Ellendale where she attended and graduated from Ellendale High School, and met the love of her life and future husband of 64 years, Wayne Reistad. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota. On June 21, 1959, she was united in marriage to Wayne Reistad at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. They made their home in Ellendale where she was a homemaker and then a bookkeeper for the Ellendale Standard.   They moved to Owatonna in 1996, and she continued keeping books for Ed’s GMC and at Edward Jones. They moved to Otsego in November of 2022. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. She liked to make candies at Christmas time, lefse, lutefisk and Swedish meatballs. Marilyn also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for the grandkids.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Reistad of Otsego, sons Ray (Judy) Reistad of Elk River, Mark (Michele) Reistad of Faribault; grandchildren Meghan (Jake), Courtney (Bear), Dannette (Riley), Cassandra, and Riley (Peyton) and one great-grandchild on the way. She was also survived by her siblings, Raymond (Sandra) Hanson of Kearney, NE, Nancy Piazza of Pueblo, CO, Carol Proechel of Crozet, VA, Gordon (Donna) Hanson of New Richland, Glen (Linda) Hanson of Owatonna, Julie (Hugh) Carlson of Roseville. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jean Marie Reistad, siblings Leslie Hanson, Janet Johnson, and Gladys Tressler.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 25th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
