Lola Mae Breilein passed away peacefully on 6/17/23 at age 97 in Grand Ledge, MI. She was the daughter of Otto and Susan Foels (Sandretzky) born on 1/27/26 in rural New Richland, MN. Her childhood home still stands and the artesian well on the property still flows.

She attended a one room country school in district 21 in New Richland grades 1-7.

Her teachers were Leona Crane and Genevieve Berg. In 8th grade, she transferred to New Richland High School and graduated in 1943.

During WWII, she was employed by E.F. Johnson in Waseca, MN.

In 1947, she married Don Breilein. Together, they had 3 children, Louise (Isenberg Twedell) (Don), Bruce (Patricia), and Robert. She was a mother and homemaker par excellence.

Lola and Don moved to Grand Ledge, MI in 1971. They were members of the Calvary Lutheran Church until is recent dissolution, until her death, she belonged to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

She was able to stay in her home and live independently with the help of a loyal caregiver, Lola and lawn caretaker, Alex.

She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, sudoku, bird watching, and family gatherings.

Her grandchildren are Tyler (Kate), Thomas (Jennifer) and Alexandra (Andy).

Her great’ grandchildren are Evertt, Lola and Fletcher.

She is preceded in death by her husband (in 2008), Sister and brother-in-law Marjorie and Oswald Evenson, and niece Diane Evenson.

She lived a long, healthy, and happy life.

There will be a friends and a family graveside service later on with the date to be announced.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff of the Independence Village and Corso Care and Hospice in Grand Ledge for all the care she received in the last months and minutes of her life.

We also want to thank her loyal friends for all the visits they made that sustained her throughout this difficult time.
