Funeral services for Yvonne Marie Christensen, age 86, of Freeborn, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland. Rev. Mark Hillmer will officiate. Interment will be at Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Yvonne died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at New Richland Care Center.
Yvonne Marie Christensen was born on July 6, 1930 in rural New Richland, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Johnson) Amley. She attended country school, New Richland High School, and one year at Winona State College. On December 31, 1950, Yvonne married Leslie J. Christensen at the parsonage in Freeborn. Yvonne was a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. She was active in Church Circle and Home Extension. Yvonne enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, crafts, and traveling.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Leslie; daughters, Cindy (John) Miller, BethAnn (Jerry) Kroeger, and Lesley (Craig) Wenzel; grandchildren, Tiffany (Joel) Kriesel, Jennifer (Kelly) Anderson, Brandon (Angela) Kroeger, Kara (Matt) Wilkenson, Lynsey (T.J.) Lindholm, and Kyle (Laura) Wenzel; nine great-grandchildren and two more expected; brother, Gene Amley; sister-in-law, Jean Amley; and several nieces and nephews
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joan (Lloyd) Bartness and Bonnie (Lloyd) Cooper; brother, Harold Amley; sister-in-law, Nola Amley; and foster sister, Esther Brusven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or Mayo Clinic Hospice.
