Funeral services for Richard Jens Schumacher of New Richland, MN, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Church of All Saints in New Richland. Father Raul Silva will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland.
Richard died Sunday, September 25, 2016 in New Richland, MN. He was 71 years of age.
Richard was born November 23, 1944 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Helmer and Mary (Loken) Schumacher. He was a graduate of Waseca High School and on December 16, 1967 was united in marriage to Jean Eustice at the All Saints Catholic Church.
Richard lived most of his life in Waseca County and had been employed as a welder with Herter’s, OMC, Mustang, Geil and retired from Corchran’s. He enjoyed collecting tools, remodeling and was generally a great handyman. Richard was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church where he and his wife served as custodians for over 20 years.
Richard is survived by his wife Jean of New Richland, MN, sons Scott (Kellie) Schumacher of Owatonna, MN, Tim Schumacher of Albert Lea, MN, daughters Sheila Schumacher of Owatonna, MN, Jessica (Timothy) Hagen of New Richland, MN, and Sara Schumacher of New Richland, MN. Grandchildren include C.J., Michael, Dillon, Chynna, Sebastian, Alex, Shelby, Aron, Debra, Brittney, Zachary, Kadence and Kaleb. There is one great grandson Zane, three brothers Lloyd (Gloria) Schumacher of Albert Lea, MN, Marlow (Carol) Schumacher of Waseca, MN, Paul (Nancy) Schumacher of Waseca, MN, and one sister Shirley Studnicka of Waseca, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael, sister Evelyn and brothers in laws Marvin Studnicka and Lloyd Neimitz.
