 Andrew J. Kajewski, 89 of Waseca, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born on February 11, 1927 in Cylinder, Iowa, he was the son of Joseph and Esther (Krause) Kajewski. He graduated from Waldorf High School in 1945 and following his schooling served in the U.S. Army. Andy married Mary Jane Kohnert on January 9, 1951. Together they lived and farmed in Wilton Township. Andy later attended Mankato Vo-Tech and worked for the Waseca Soil and Water Conservation District for over 20 years.

Following his retirement, he served as the Waseca County Ditch Inspector for many years. Andy enjoyed working with the farmers through his job and also in retirement. He loved being outdoors, hunting, and feeding the birds. Other hobbies he enjoyed include wood carving, reading, watching westerns, and telling jokes and stories.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waldorf and the Waseca American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Waseca; four children, Glen (Darby) Kajewski of Thief River Falls, Pam (Bob) Nyquist of Janesville, Gary (Irene) Kajewski of Bowlus, and JoAnn (Don) Schlaak of Waseca; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Steve (Sylvia) Kajewski of Louisville, CO; one sister-in-law, Mardell Ford of Pompano Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary and Rosella; and one brother, Raymond.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waldorf.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Community Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church.  Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services of Waseca is handling arrangements. dennisfuneralhomes.com
