As Bob Hanson likes to write, “time for another running of the words.” It is time for another thinking about my thoughts columns.

Part of me imagines that Bob runs to these ideas not out of content per say but because that’s what you do when you don’t know what to write about. My old English teacher taught me a valuable lesson, “if you don’t know where to start, just start writing about anything that comes to your mind.”

Well here I am, writing about everything that comes to mind. Last week I was invited/asked/ I’m not sure what to call it, but I had the opportunity to go look at some cats to try and find one for my new home. I think I found the right one, but the family said they needed to say their goodbyes. That made me feel bad. I don’t know exactly what to think about adopting a cat from a loving home. I’ll spare the details on why the family needs to get rid of their furry feline, but it felt rather heartbreaking.

Anyways, back to the point of my weekly rant. To write about all the random nonsense that pops into my head. I wanted to say thank you to Sharon Eckhart for her kind words and the great conversations we have. I should also mention her husband, because he is one interesting fellow. The last few times I have had the pleasure of running into the two of them, he has chimed in and it has made for some interesting conversation.

Conversations with people in town with people like the Eckart’s is what I love about small towns. I can’t really imagine having that experience in a big city. Sure you might recognize a worker somewhere if you go there enough, but you won’t run into people you have known your entire life. In a big city, a person would be hard pressed to run into someone who recently was on the front page of the newspaper. I should mention that kids in school run into their teachers  and fellow classmates who have been in the Newspaper.

With all that being said, I should thank the Red Leaf for playing host to most of these fun encounters. Not only are they a place for great conversation but also great food. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t run into people as often as I do.

Thought for the week: Don’t wait until the day before something needs to be done to do it.
