Last week I wrote about drifting off to sleep while watching movies I love. I figured this week would be a perfect time to write about dreams! Everyone’s favorite topic to read about, someone else’s dreams. I know this may sound boring but bear with me.

Thinking back to my freshman year in high school I remember writing about this same topic. Mrs. Rudau assigned us a journal writing assignment and somehow I got on the subject of my dreams. I still remember writing about one specific recurring dream I experienced growing up. It must have been an exciting dream, because I think that was the first “A” I had ever earned on a writing assignment.

She wrote some really nice words next to the grade, something about creativity, I think. But back to my dream. For a long time I would dream about this field in the middle of nowhere. I knew for some reason it was somewhere north of here, quite a ways, and it felt very familiar. The field wasn’t really a field at all, it was kind of a sunken valley surrounded by pine trees, big and wide pine trees.

There was an opening with a swing set with two swings and it always sunny, but a different kind of sun. I don’t really know how to describe it, but it always felt like a good place to be. Ahaha I remember what I was supposed to write about in ninth grade. We were supposed to write about our happy place. It figures I would write about sleeping as my happy place.

I still dream almost every night, but I haven’t dreamt that dream in a long time. Do you ever remember your dreams in the middle of the day? Oftentimes I will have random flashbacks to whatever I dreamt about the night prior. It’s almost like deja vu, but with dreams. Nightja vu? I’m not sure, but I like it. It makes going to sleep a little more interesting.

Thought for the week: follow your dreams, in real life or dreamland.
