Genie and I enjoyed a Sunday Valentine's brunch at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland on Sunday, February 11, 2024. They served 'til noon per the flyer. Once again you can't believe all you read as Genie and I got there just after 12 noon. (I wonder how many more would have filled their tummy if the advertisements would have said 'til one p.m.) Once again the food and service were truly a “Sunday” special.

Genie is in a group of ladies who like to go out for breakfast-lunch. One of the ladies is Lois Arnold. The last name of the new owners of “The Willows” in New Richland is Arnold. Yes, Lois is the mom/mother-in-law of the new owners. Do you suppose Lois has found a new place for the breakfast-lunch ladies to go to??

We all know the government can giveth and taketh. On Sunday March tenth they will do the fall taketh. (In case your wondering, it is called Daylight Savings Time!!)

Three important things happen on February 29, 2024. One: Your fishing license expires. The good news is you can buy a new one. Two: Squirrel hunting season ends. The good news is you may be allowed to catch and release a destructive squirrel. Three: My 1st cousin, Karen, has a birthday. The bad news is she has to wait 4 years for another birthday.

At this time at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church rural Albert Lea, we have a guess when all the snow will be gone from the west side of the parking lot. There is a problem this year. “There is no snow” to guess when it will be gone. On Sunday morning prior to church, Wendy the church organist played that old popular song sang by Doris Day “Whatever Will Be, Will Be.” Thus, the problem of a snow gone contest was solved!!!

When you're having a bad day– read this!!!

“Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing

can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity

to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel

that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything

and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,

and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others

as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past

and press on to greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times

and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself

that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, and too strong for fear

and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world

not in loud words but in deeds.

To live in faith that the whole world is on your side

so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”
