Most of you have been to some sort of entertainment where the curtain came down at the end of the show.

Just to the east of the Marian Ross Theater in downtown Albert Lea is the new water tower presently under construction. It is being completed under a containment curtain to be removed as soon as the exterior painting is completed.

A heavy fast-moving storm went through downtown Albert Lea. The result was the curtain came down onto the base of the new water tower.

I guess you could say, “Just like a performance at the Marion Ross Theater when the curtain comes down between acts, you wait for the next act to start.” The curtain is down on the water tower; thus, the city of Albert Lea has to wait for the curtain to be back up, so the exterior painting of the water tower can be completed.

Putting all this into one short summary, one could say, “Up is now down.”

Being a walker, for years I have walked around Fountain Lake in Albert Lea the morning after the July 4th fireworks in Albert Lea.

There are a lot of people in boats and pontoons on the lake as the fireworks are shot off. In other years the end result was a lot of garbage caught in the grate under Bridge Street in the flow of water out of Fountain Lake into Albert Lea Lake.

I was pleasantly surprised on my walk after July 4th this year as there was very little garbage in the grate!!

I was told the following regarding the summertime vandalism at various parks:

Son just turned 16 with a full-time (part-time during the school year) job, was given a used vehicle for his birthday. Son was to buy gas plus all other expenses of the vehicle.

Dad found out Son was involved in spray-painting bathrooms at a local park. Without letting son know of his finding out about the spray painting, Dad spray-painted the outside door on the driver’s side of son’s car. (Dad did not tell son or say anything about the spray-painting to son!!)

Something must be done to reduce the gun violence. To my way of thinking, if products such as milk, orange juice, frozen foods, candy bars etc. have an expiration date, why can’t bullets?? Let’s assume the bullets wouldn’t fire after 30 days. This would not solve all the shootings, but it would most certainly reduce the shootings.

Common sense tells me military type weapons should not be for sale to the public!!

As long as I’m exerting my ability to think – try this on for size as to our next President:

Trump is not a good candidate for President based on his previous term.

Biden is not innocent of his son’s bad actions. Besides, Biden is too old for the requirements of the job.

Obama is one of the few with the experience, age, and honesty to handle the job of President. Therefore, Michelle is the good candidate.
