This will be, as I call this column, “A running of the words.”

A pair of mallard ducks are roaming our neighborhood looking for a place to nest. So far, no nest, but they have gotten every dog excited when the dog is inside a fence or on a leash as they quack, quack.

Our mailman noticed we didn’t receive the Wednesday Albert Lea Tribune. He said he would check to see if it got sorted wrong and delivered to the wrong address. About an hour later, he delivered the paper with our address on it. That is the kind of service known to be given by the Thompson clan. In this case, “Parker.”

Observed in front of Hy-Vee store in Albert Lea: A chorus of adult ladies and men with their left arm exposed while singing, “I got my shot, I got my shot, I’m ready to go,” as they drove away blasting their car horn.

Care mongerer is a popular service type of club gaining popularity in Canada. The motto is “Care of Others” rather than fear of others.

Have you noticed how the gulls have adapted to drive-thru dining and eating in the parking lot at McDonald’s? Just roll down your window and toss out a French fry and you will notice.

Genie and I saw the water - a beautiful moving white carpet behind the Albert Lea landfill. We couldn’t tell if they were tundra swans, pelicans or snow geese. Just beautiful. I guess about four-five thousand.

I have a cell phone with an old landline phone number. Genie has a cell phone with a new number. Guess who gets all the scam phone calls?

When my cell phone rings, if the number is from out of my area, I answer as soon as I can saying, “I can’t talk right now, call back in 10 minutes.” So far, no scammer has called back. (The legitimate callers do call back.)

Reverend Matt Griggs is his name, being pastor of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church is his fame. Daughter Gillian stole his show when she gave her confirmation talk to the congregation. (My reaction, “You go, girl, go!!”)

The virus is now endemic in certain parts of the United States. This means a large percentage of the population in certain areas. In most cases it is due to “not” being vaccinated.

If you measured the number of square miles in Minnesota, what would the ranking be of Minnesota? The answer is the 12th largest state.

Seen on a scruffy looking lawn, a big yellow sign with black letters reading: Pardon my weeds, I’m feeding the bees.

A study was done by the dentistry profession regarding female dental assistants as to their job causing them to age faster than other females in the work force. The answer was “a good dental assistant does not age faster than other females in the force. In fact, the good dental assistant will appear 10-15 years younger than her age.” Mary Jo, you are proof of the study.

On my way back from my usual early morning walk, I saw my neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into our yard and told Genie and our dog what happened. The three of us had a good laugh.

Speaking of dogs, some dog walking parks have facilities for washing your dog.

In closing, a reminder of Memorial Day in remembrance of those giving their lives in the military.
