Never look upon an older lady as old and behind the times. I submit the following as verification:

Three women, two younger and one senior citizen, were sitting naked in a sauna.

Suddenly, there was a beeping sound, the young woman pressed her forearm and the beep stopped. The others looked at her questioningly. “That was my pager,” she said. “I have a microchip under the skin of my arm.”

A few minutes later, a phone rang. The second young woman lifted her palm to her ear. When she finished, she explained, “That was my mobile phone. I have a microchip in my hand.”

The older woman felt very low-tech. not to be outdone, she decided she had to do something just as impressive. She stepped out of the sauna and went to the bathroom. She returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging from her rear end.

The two younger ladies raised their eyebrows and stared at her. The older woman finally said, “Well, will you look at that, I’m getting a fax!”

(Readers, this story was sent to Genie by Cheryl, one of her younger relatives in Iowa, via a fax machine!)

March is one busy month – for example: “March 1st, Fish houses in the southern part of Minnesota must be off the lake.”

March 14, daylight savings begins.

March 15, fish houses in the northern part of Minnesota must be off the lake.

March 17, St. Patrick’s Day with wearing of the green.

March 20, 1st day of spring.

Boredom caused by the virus set in, so Genie decided to do a car drive around at Big Island State Park by Albert Lea. A small flock of robins greeted Genie with a fly-by. Net result, bye-bye boredom.

The rest of this column will be a running of the words, “Fact or Fiction: You Decide.”

Karen Erickson is retiring. She most certainly deserves a retirement party. Due to Covid-19, her party will be a “card” party. Please send a card to her at: P.O. Box 94 Glenville, MN 56036. (For your info, she is a fan of Norwegian bingo.)

I busted a tooth off at the root. Dentist Doctor George built a replacement giving the busted tooth back to me. I left it under my pillow. The tooth is gone, but no monetary reward from the tooth fairy. The only thing I can figure out is the My Pillow guy got the tooth fairy money as I was sleeping on the wrong kind of pillow.

My car was not getting any battery juice; thus, it wouldn’t start. During the February below zero records, I called Hanson Tire in Albert Lea for help. In talking to the male that answered the phone, I didn’t recognize the voice. I asked his name. He replied, “Dan.”

I was a bit worried but with employee Dan doing a great service call putting in a new battery, my problem was solved. I did mention the great service I received to Kelvin – the boss – with the good results from my call to “Dan.”

Were you aware of Mexico closing all of their border crossings for about a week? It seems that too many Texans were swamping their border guards. One Texas politician solved the border closing by flying. It looks like his political career is now on hold.

“Danny the Duck” is a must-see snow made, yellow painted duckling on the north side of Burr Oak Drive in Albert Lea.

Stewart and Gala of Clarks Grove, you trained your daughter very well. As an employee in the Hyvee Pharmacy of Albert Lea, she gave me a stern look as I’m getting the virus vaccination. The result was no hollering, no cussing, just a good old boy.

This old Norwegian took part in a Zoom meeting via Genie’s computer. Wow! I was a delegate to the Blue Earth River Conference along with Genie from Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Cathy Legried from Central Freeborn, as Dean, was the great meeting leader. She won’t tell you she did a great job – so I will!
