The NRHEG High School cross country teams participated in the Grizzly Pie Invitational Thursday, Sept 28 at Janesville's Prairie Ridge Golf Course.
The girls' team finished in fifth overall with 111 points. Maple river was first with 52, followed by WEM/JWP 64, Blooming Prairie 75, USC/AC 103.
Seventh-grader Julieann Wobbrock finished in sixth place, just outside of getting a top-five finish and a pie, with a time of 22:47. Holly Bartness was 22nd in 25:16, Annabelle Petsinger 26th in 26:20, Madison Corkill 34th in 28:16 and Amelia Duryee 53rd in 32:43.
For the boys, once again Jacob Karl and Devon Nelton were strong finishers, Jacob taking second with a time of 18:58, Devon third in 19:10. Jackson McGannon placed 26th in 23:38, Owen Flatland 36th in 25:03.
"It was nice to see the girls finish in the top five as a team!" said Panthers coach Larry Nydegger. "Jacob and Devon continue to impress with their consistent efforts. getting into the top five and winning a couple of pies!"
