The grand opening of Make it Happen Nutrition took place on Saturday, June 19 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The new beverage shop, located at 140 Broadway Ave. N., New Richland, specializes in nutritious teas, energy drinks, and shakes to boost energy and metabolism, and provide a nutritious source of protein. Stephanie Garcia, owner, said the place got pretty busy during the grand opening.

“About seven years ago, I tried Herbalife,” says Garcia, who has been living in New Richland for the past six years. “I worked at a health club for a little while then.”

It was because of her experience with the global franchise Herbalife Nutrition that Garcia started dreaming of owning her own health club. At the nutrition club in Waseca, Garcia noticed a lot of people from New Richland stopping in, which is why she thought it would be “awesome” to have a nutrition club available in New Richland.

Energy drinks at the Herbalife Nutrition vendor come in a myriad of flavors with titles to entice the curious, like “Explosion,” “Summer Nights,” “Beach Bomb,” and “Caribbean Cruise.”

Each energy drink provides 160 mg of caffeine, as well as aloe to improve digestion. Herbalife Nutrition shakes also come in many flavors, and are only 200 calories each, while providing 20 grams of protein, and 21 vitamins and minerals. They are a good source of fiber, and serve as a meal replacement. The teas provide 85 mg of caffeine per serving, boost metabolism, and, according to the owner, “help you feel revitalized.” Protein coffee beverages provide 85 mg of caffeine, 100 calories, and 15 grams of protein.

Although the beverages and shakes are all sweet, none of them contains any sugar, a big plus for the nutrition and fitness minded. Garcia lists the ingredients for a shake called “Fruity Pebbles” as she blends it: “It has orange flavor with vanilla, lemon pudding, pineapple and strawberry syrup, as well as frozen strawberries and frozen pineapples. It's a really good one.” The sugar-free puddings and syrups mean that customers can enjoy a guilt-free “Campfire Mocha,” a shake which combines the flavors of coffee, graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate pudding; or any other flavor combination at the shop.

Make It Happen Nutrition isn't open on Saturdays and Sundays; Garcia moved to New Richland for the great school district, and plans to spend the weekends with her six children – four sons and two daughters, ages 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, and 7. Summer hours for the new wellness shop will be 6:30  a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
