The NRHEG girls' track and field team secured only one first place in Monday's Blooming Prairie Invitational.

It was the most important one.

The Panthers, bouyed by nine sec- ond-place showings, captured first place as a team.

"The girls did well winning the meet with zero first-place finishes," said Panthers coach Duey Ferber. "This was a nice meet to see where we stack up for the conference meet. We are finding out who to put where in the upcoming meets."

NRHEG won with 139.5 points, followed by JWP with 105, Mankato Loyola 103, Medford 93, Blooming Prairie 80, WEM 79, St. Clair 62.25 and USC/AC 24.

The Panthers were again led by senior Evelen Nydegger, who was second in the 100-meter high hur- dles in 16.99 seconds, second in the

300 intermediate hurdkles in 52.56, and second in the 200 in 27.95. She went 32 feet, 5 inches for third in the triple jump.

The other second-place showings were by Quinn VanMaldeghem, 800, 2:47.35; Juliann Wobbrock, 3200, 13:27.17; Malonna Wilson, shot put, 33-6; Chloe Riewer, long jump, 15-2; Anika Ladlie, high jump, 4-10; and the 4x800 relay team of Holly Bartness, Clara Buendorf, Ella Jeno and Wobbrock, 12:14.64. Placing third were Gabby Schlaak, 100 hurdles, 18.31; Ellie Clark, 300 hurdles, 55.58; Wilson, discus, 102-4; VanMaldeghem, pole vault, 7-0; the 4x200 relay team of Sierra Misgen, Riewer, Buendorf

and Clark, 1:57.95; and the 4x400 relay team of Kiera Lenort, Misgen, VanMaldeghem and Buendorf, 4:42.76.

Misgen, Riewer, Schlaak and Ladlie combined for fourth in the 4x100, clocking 56.12.

The other Panther places were by VanMaldeghem, 1600, 6:17.87; Kylie Olson, shot put, 29-4.5; and Schlaak, high jump, 4-4.

The Panthers' next action is Tuesday, April 30 at JWP. They host the NRHEG Invitational May 2. Both meets start at 4:30.
