For the first time in 24 years, NRHEG will not have a representative at the state track and field meet.

The Panthers gave it their all but fell short in a talent-laden Section 2A meet at Mankato West Saturday, May 30.

The best finish for the Panthers was fourth, by Maddie Wagner in the high jump and Keith Maxon in the discus. Wagner cleared 5 feet. Maxon had a best toss of 137-4.

Kevin Kalis was fifth in the discus at 134-0.

Hailey Schuller, Gretchen Ramaker, Marnie Wagner and Maddie Wagner combined for fifth in the girls’ 4x200 relay with a time of 1:52.07.

The boys’ 4x800-meter relay team of Tyler Schlaak, John Cole, Nate Krause and Josh Flemming broke its own school record, clocking 8:34.85, but managed only sixth place.

Cole was eighth in the 3200 in 10:39.4 and Schlaak was eighth in the 800 in 2:09.41.

“The boys tried their best and our girls gave it all they had,” said NRHEG coach Duey Ferber. “We have an extremely tough section.”
