Team third in Section True Team Meet

It was a wonderful day to compete, and the NRHEG girls’ track and field team competed wonderfully.
The Panthers dominated their rescheduled home invitational last Friday, winning 11 of 18 events to finish with 231 points to 102 for runner up Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet. St. Clair had 97, Blooming Prairie 65, JWP 39.
“The girls looked fantastic tonight, with some dominating performances,” said coach Duey Ferber. “Many of our young girls stepped up and ran well tonight.”
And many familiar faces finished first.
Carlie Wagner won the 100 in 13.0, the 200 in 27.3 and the high jump at 5-4, while joining Hailey Schuller, Marnie Wagner and Maddie Wagner on the first-place 4x200 relay team.Schuller won the 100 hurdles and the long jump, taking second in the 300 hurdles. Katharine Lewer won the 1600 and 3200, Abby Wacholz took the triple jump.
Other firsts were by the 4x100 team of Abby Crabtree, Marnie Wagner, Wacholz and Taylar Tieskotter and the 4x400 crew of Emily Prigge, Kelly Harden, Maddie Wagner and Marnie Wagner.
Other NRHEG places: Tieskotter, second, 100 and second, triple jump; Shanna Stencel, second, 200, fourth, 300 hurdles, fourth, 100 hurdles and sixth, long jump; Emmy Hobbs, second, pole vault; Maddie Wagner, second, high jump and fourth, 100; Gretchen Ramaker, third, 100 and third, 200; Prigge, third, 400; Mikayla Lindell, third, shot put and fourth, discus; Mikayla Olson, third, 3200; 4x800, third (Kelly Harden, Emily Prigge, Katie Crabtree, Sandra Quezada); Crystal Olson, fourth, 1600; Harden, fourth, 800; Abby Crabtree, fourth, pole vault and fifth, 100; Lewer, sixth, high jump; Wacholz, fifth, high jump; Katie Crabtree, sixth, 1600; Katie Cole, sixth, discus.
The previous Monday, the girls competed in the True Team Section Meet at Mapleton, taking fourth out of 13 schools with 539.5 points. Blue Earth Area won with 664. USC/AC was second with 628.
“Our section is tough,” said Ferber. “We gutted it out to finish fourth. Most of our kids had season bests tonight.”
Carlie Wagner had both Panther firsts, winning the 200 and the high jump. She was sixth in the 100. She joined Schuller and the twins for second in the 4x200.
