Memorial services for Milferd Clarence Johannsen, age 88, of New Richland will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at the Hartland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations, VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Milferd died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the New Richalnd Care Center after a year long battle with colon cancer.

Milferd (Milf) Johnannsen was born March 15, 1927 in Freeborn, MN to Herman C. and Clara M. (Amundson) Johannsen. Milferd was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran religion at Cross of Glory Church. Milferd attended high school in Freeborn. On February 20, 1951 he was drafted into the US Army, he served his country at Forst Lewis, WA during the Korean War. On February 20, 1953 Milf was honorably discharged and returned to the family farm near New Richland. Milferd was a single man and lived his entire life on the family farm. He enjoyed the outdoors and many of the shooting sports. Happy hunting dear friend.

Survivors include his nephews Ronald E. (Jeanette) Johannsen of Rochester and Mitchell J. Johannsen of New Richland and many grand nieces and grand nephews.

Milferd was preceded in death by his parents; sister Clarica May Johannsen and brother Harvey Christian Johannsen.
