Gregory Allan Fischer, 61, of New Richland passed away April 27, 2015 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Greg was born May 11, 1953 in Owatonna, MN, the oldest son of Robert and Patricia Fischer. Greg graduated from Marian High School in Owatonna in 1971, and continued his education at Mankato State University with a degree in Business.

Greg married his high school sweetheart Diane (Karow) Burns in 1974, and is the proud father of their four children, Angie, Brianna, Cody and Devin. Greg had a successful 40-year career in veterinary pharmaceutical sales, most recently with Midwest Veterinary Supply. He valued deeply the many friendships he cultivated with veterinary staff across Southern Minnesota.

Greg moved to his dream home, the Star Creamery, on St. Olaf Lake in 2005, and spent many happy moments on his pontoon with his Laker friends, and beloved co-captain Rupert. He had many passions – long walks around the lake, golf outings with his longtime golfing buddies, and Minnesota sports teams – were just a few. Greg had a beautiful tenor singing voice, a gift he shared by singing at many weddings and special events. He was the lead singer for the local cover band, the Fabulous Lovehandles.

Greg’s joyful, fun-filled life is lovingly remembered by his children Angie (Jason) Orthel, Brianna (Etienne Tuo) Fischer, Cody (Kate) Fischer and Devin (Sarah) Fischer; four grandchildren, Emma, Jack, and Violet Orthel and Makayla Fischer; his parents, Robert and Patricia; his siblings Cheryl Fischer, Becky (Bruce) Granowski, Brad, and Kirk (Molly); and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his younger sister Mary Kay, and his grandparents Harvey and Olivia Fischer and Curtis and Margaret Disher.

A visitation will be held at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, on Thursday, April 30th from 4 to 8: p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 512 South Elm Street, Owatonna, on Friday, May 1 at 11 a.m. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at the Owatonna Elks Club, 126 East Vine Street, at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1, featuring fabulous music and memories to hold on to.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the patient care fund or the beautification fund, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
