Dana Leslie Kapke, age 67, of Wells, MN, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 1, 2015, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, MN at 1 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Richland, Waseca Co., MN. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Wells is in charge of arrangements. Dana Leslie was born June 4, 1947 in Oelwein, IA, the son of Karl and Lois (Kobernus) Kapke. He graduated from New Richland-Hartland high school in 1965. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received top secret clearance for his duties in electronic and cryptographic equipment and was chosen for a special project at Hawes Radio Relay facility.

He was a very intelligent man who enjoyed his Ham Radio, was trained in computer technology, and enjoyed books on physics and other fields of science.

Dana is survived by his son, Tim Bona of Minneapolis, MN; sisters Pam Schultz, Darla McMartin, and Jolene (Todd) Carlson; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Karl and Lois Kapke; maternal grandparents Harry and Elva (Dauenbaugh) Kobernus; paternal grandparents Albert and Mary (Trumblee) Kapke.
