Sharon Ann Johnson, 71, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL passed away on October 13, 2014.

She was born November 2, 1942 in Waseca, MN to Verle and Lucille Hansen. She grew up on the family farm in New Richland, MN and earned a degree in Elementary Education from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1964, where she sang in the Gustavus Concert Choir.

She was a highly regarded teacher who loved and championed all her students. Sharon was known for her generous hospitality and wonderful cooking and she always encouraged the same positive outlook in others that she had herself. She took great joy in hosting the Gustavus Men’s and Women’s golf teams for the last 10 years for their spring practice session in Ponte Vedra Beach. She was a 45-year member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, where she served several terms on the church council. But by far her favorite job was loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, dogs and granddogs.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bill Johnson; daughter, Jenni (Alan) Linkous of Charleston, SC, Courtney, Caroline, and Charlie; son, Eric Johnson of Santa Monica, CA, Alexander, Camille and Bentley; son, Bill (Heather) Johnson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL., Ross, Faithe, Peyton and Chair; brothers, Terry (Wendi) Hansen of New Richland, MN and Don (Sandy) Hansen of Cambridge, MN; brother-in-law, Bruce Johnson and Jinka of Albany, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews whom she also adored. She is also survived by her faithful and loving service dog, Hudson.

A Memorial Service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday October 18, 2014 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 6801 Merrill Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32277. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Bill and Sharon Johnson Golf Endowment, Gustavus Adolphus College, Office of Advancement, 800 West College Ave., St. Peter, MN 56082, St. Matthews Lutheran Church, or the Florida Chapter of the ALS Association.
