Georgianna Roberts, 84, of Wells, MN passed away Sunday, October 26 in Yorktown, Virigina at the home of her son Karl Roberts.

2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. I am going home.

We asked the Lord to heal her or take her home. And the Lord said, “Come on home, Georgie. I have this mansion for you. I know you will be pleased. Stand tall and walk through the Gate.” So one beautiful Sunday Georgie did just that. She was led through that gate by her husband Corvin, son, Donald (standing and walking tall), and her father and mother George and Lucille Batt and was given to the Lord.

Georgianna was born June 8, 1930 to George and Lucille (Cook) Batt in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Iowa, where they lived until they moved to Hartland, Minnesota and took up farming.

Georgianna was the valedictorian for the 1948 Freeborn High School graduating class, Freeborn Minnesota. On August 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Corvin Roberts in Wells, Minnesota where they made their home. To this union, they raised four children: Georgette (Kenny) Bauman, Karl (Toni) Roberts, Nola Roberts and Donald Roberts.

Georgianna was a member of the United Methodist church in Wells, Minnesota. At one time she taught Sunday School. She was active in the church circle and loved their friendships. She was an avid reader, enjoyed camping, eating out, spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Earlier in her marriage, she was a stay-at-home mother and took in sewing. She then spent many years working for Mussers, Stampers, Banquet, ConAg, Blue Coach, and Swift Eckrick until the plant closed in Wells, Minnesota. She retired at age 74.

Georgianna was preceded in death by her husband Corvin after over 60 years of marriage, her youngest son Donald and her parents George and Lucille Batt.

Georgianna is survived by three children: (Georgette (Kenneth) Bauman of Andover, MN, Karl (Toni) Roberts of Yorktown, VA, Nola Roberts of Ellendale, MN; siblings Donald (Glenda) Batt of Hartland, MN, Allen (Gail) Batt of Hartland, MN; five grandchildren: Kevin (Shannon) Bauman of Maple Grove, MN, Kristine (Will) Mraz of Wyoming, MN, Jeremy Roberts of Owatonna, MN, Karl (Connie) Roberts of Poquson, VA, Kekey (Brandon) Williams of Newport News, Va; seven great grandchildren: Travis Mraz of Duluth, MN, Addyson and Wyatt Mraz of Wyoming, MN, Cameron and Skylar Bauman of Maple Grove, MN, Elyssa and Emma Roberts of Poquson, VA. She loved them all deeply.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Wells, MN at the United Methodist Chruch. In lieu of flowers, Georgianna requested donations be made to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk VA, 23507 or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PI, Memphis, TN 38105 or American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. All cards may be sent to Karl Roberts, 317 Patriot Way, Yorktown, VA 23693.

Finally my mother wanted to say to everyone how much she enjoyed her life in good and bad times. To remember FAMILY is FAMILY no matter what, talk and love each other, say you’re sorry and make up before it’s too late. Good bye, see you all soon!
