Anthony G. Boyer, age 68, of Le Sueur passed away on June 10, 2014 at Rivers Edge Hospital, St. Peter. Visitation will be on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Le Center Funeral Home, Le Center.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at First Lutheran Church from 11 a.m. in Le Sueur with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery, Le Sueur. 

Anthony was born in Worthington, MN to Fern and Floyd Boyer. He graduated from Round Lake High School, earned his Associate of Arts degree from Worthington Community College; Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Sixth Year Degree, and Superintendent Endorsement all from Mankato State University. Anthony served as a public school educator for forty-two years, beginning as a Social Studies and Physical Education Teacher, as well as an athletics coach, in both the Brownton and Le Center Public School Districts. Tony continued his career as a High School Principal at NRHEG and New Prague Public Schools. Tony’s career concluded as the Superintendent of Schools at Le Center Public Schools for 14 years and upon retirement served as interim Superintendent and educational advisor for the districts of McCleod West, Nicollet and GFW Public Schools. Tony was awarded Region 2A Superintendent of Excellence in 2003. He was an active member of many local and professional organizations and First Lutheran Church, Le Sueur serving as a youth educator.

Tony was an avid reader, sports fan, life-long learner, spiritual leader to his family and friends, dear friend to many, passionate educator, outstanding coach, caring brother, affectionate grandfather, devoted father, and committed and loving husband.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Maxine (Jacobson) of Le Sueur; his children Leslie (Gene) of Le Sueur, Timothy (Audra) of Waseca, and Nathaniel (Kristie) of Young America; his grandchildren Christian, Ethan, and Gretchen Dwyer; Olivea, and Augusta Boyer; Avery, Isiah, and Talia Boyer; 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law.

Tony fought a courageous 5-year battle with kidney cancer and his family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who helped care for him and his family.
