The Ellendale Area Heritage Society will meet Saturday, Aug. 2nd at 9 a.m. at the old Thompson Boat House on Beaver Lake. We invite you to join us for a time of sharing photos and memories. So, if you live in Ellendale or surrounding area, have a summer cabin or a year-around home at Beaver Lake, feel free to join us for a fun time.

Waseca Garden Club Walk set for Sunday

The Waseca Garden Club Garden Walk takes place on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 1-5 p.m. – rain or shine.  All locations are free and open to the public.
The Garden Walk begins at the Bailey/Lewer House. Maps and refreshments are available at the Bailey/Lewer House.

SCHS to meet Monday 4 at Whispering Oak

The Steele County Historical Society (SCHS) will hold its August board meeting at Whispering Oak Community Room, 903 Calvery Court in Ellendale on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend this meeting. “We’re excited to be having this meeting in Ellendale. As a county-wide organization we want to visit all areas of the county, and we encourage local residents to join us, share ideas, or their local history with our Board.” said SCHS Director, Laura Resler. Gus’s Station ribbon cutting Aug. 7

The Steele County Historical Society is pleased to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for Gus’s Station at the Village of Yesteryear, 1448 Austin Road, Owatonna on Thursday, August 7th at 10:45 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The restoration of the Station was a project of the Ellendale Area Heritage Society who financed the moving and restoration of the building and gifted it to the Steele County Historical Society. It is the newest addition to the Village of Yesteryear.
