Did the NRHEG girls’ track and field team miss Carlie Wagner last week?

Do we need to ask?

With Wagner sidelined due to hamstring tightness, the Panthers competed in a pair of meets, taking seventh among eight schools at Maple River Tuesday and third out of five at Blue Earth Area Friday.

Hailey Schuller was the leader at Maple River, taking third in the 100 and 300 hurdles. She joined Abby Wacholz, Marnie Wagner and Taylar Tieskotter for fourth in the 4x100 relay.

With the wind blowing in what seemed every direction, the NRHEG clay target team got off to a rough but promising start last week.

It was rough as most of the top shooters did not post their typical scores, yet promising as the total team effort was still enough to place the team solidly in second place in their conference. Conferences in the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League (MSHSCTL) are determined by team size. NRHEG is in Class AAA Conference 1 with teams from Edina, Mahtomedi, St. Thomas Academy, Zimmerman, East Grand Forks, and New York Mills.

The NRHEG boys’ and girls’ golf teams competed twice last week.

On Tuesday, the boys lost 168-190 to JWP while the girls defeated an incomplete JWP squad.

Scoring for the boys: Jake Langlie 43, Kelson Titus 47, Macoy Schwierjohann 49, Nick Shultz 51. Nathan Schmitz of JWP was the medalist with a 39.
