The NRHEG High School cheer competition team has had another great season.

The girls placed first at Plainview-Elgin-Millville, third at the University of Minnesota, second at Chaplin Park, first in Rochester, and another second-place finish at the Mall of America this past weekend.

There are 16 girls who compete on the team and represent the communities well. This year’s team members are seniors Harlee Vokoun, Michaela Hansen, Lexi Wayne, Tiara Robran and Hailey Johnson; juniors Dana Jensen, Brina Bergland, Maddy Schwierjohann, Brenna Hagen, Tara Simon, Hannah Lewison, Kiley Beenken and Emmy Hobbs; sophomores Presley Johnson, Jadyn Nelson-Spies and Stormi Hagen. Hannah Light is also part of the team but is out with a back injury and is missed greatly by her teammates.

This Saturday, they will head to Roy Wilkins Arena in St. Paul and compete for the state championship. Before they do, Lexi Wayne and Michaela Hansen will be honored in the State Honor Team of Excellence for their Leadership and Academics.  NRHEG also will be honored with the Minnesota Regional Academic Award as the team has the highest GPA in the region and state.

“This is quite an honor,” said coach Kari Buendorf. “We are very proud of each of the girls on their work ethic in the classroom and representing NRHEG.”

Hailey Johnson will also be singing the National Anthem before their session starts.

Mrs. Buendorf and her cheerleaders would like to thank the communities for their support in many of their fundraisers and also those who have shared words of encouragement. They would also like to thank the many “cheer fans” that have traveled to their competitions. It means a lot to them.
