 The funeral for Arlene Margaret (Wiek) Christenson is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson, Minnesota. Visitation at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Reverends Dana O’Brien and Barb Streed will officiat the service. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery near Mantorville.

Arlene died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, where she had been for nearly two weeks. 

Arlene was born February 7, 1926 in rural Steele County to Martin and Mollie Wiek. She was baptized and confirmed in Aurora Lutheran Church in Havana Township near Owatonna. In 1943, she graduated from Owatonna High School. On July 2, 1943 she married James Christenson of New Richland, Minnesota, where they farmed for many years. Following Jim’s later employment with IBM, she settled permanently with her family in Kasson. 

Maryellen M. Miller of Owatonna died September 6, 2016 at Park Place senior living in Owatonna. A memorial service is set for Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Brick–Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Rd, Owatonna.) Friends may greet the family one hour before the time of service. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery at Litomysl.

Mary Ellen Marie was born the daughter of Soren C. and Nicholina (Anderson) Norgaard in Summit Township. She attended school in Ellendale and was a member the graduating class of 1952. Mary Ellen was united in marriage to Raphael “Ray” Miller on October 25, 1952 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Steele County and Mary Ellen worked alongside of her husband in all aspects of farming. Her life interests include knitting, baking, cooking for her family. Mary Ellen was the neighborhood day care for many years.

Janet Walterson passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Ellendale, MN on August 26, 2016. She lived in Ellendale with her husband, Bob, of 38 years.

Jan was born in Winnebago, MN on May 8, 1948 to Willard and Maybell Kraywinkel. Jan spent most of her time as a child and young adult in Monticello, MN. After high school she moved to the Minneapolis area where she lived and worked. She met Bob there, and they were married in 1978. They moved to Ellendale in 2003, where they spent many happy years at their retirement place. 

 Michael Steven Raymo, 67, of Mankato, passed away on August 30, 2016.

Visiation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2016 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the church with visitation one hour prior with Rev. John Petersen officiating. Mankato Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Michael was born January 1, 1949 in Waseca, MN to Myrna Isabel (Arnold) and Carrell William Raymo. Carrell and Myrna had three other children, Carrell LeRoy “Sonny”, Darlene Elsie “Dee”, and Bonnie Jean. He graduated from New Richland High School in 1966, and attended Austin Community College. After graduating college, he worked various jobs before starting his career at Motion Industries for 24 years.

Sylvia Irene Hallevik Young, age 82, passed away on June 15, 2016 in Blairsville, GA. Her graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the North Waseca Lutheran Church, 40430 120th St., Waseca, MN. Pastor Nancy Hansen will officiate the service.

Sylvia Irene Hallevik was born in Quincy, MA on September 26, 1933 to parents Christian and Alletta “Lettie” (Alland) Hallevik. She is the granddaughter of Torkel and Ingeborg Alland, who emigrated from Norway in 1880 and were residents of the Waseca area. Sylvia married Charles “Chuck” Young on January 3, 1957 in Boston, MA. Soon after their marriage they moved to West Palm Beach, FL, where Sylvia worked as a school secretary for the Palm Beach School District, retired in 1995, and resided until her move to Murphy, NC in 1998.
