Funeral services for Luella M. Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28 at LeSueur River Lutheran Church, rural New Richland, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Reverend Brian Gegel will officiate. Interment will be in the LeSueur River Lutheran Cemetery.
Luella Maxine was born on January 6, 1925 to James P. and Anna (Larson) Johnson in Bath Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota. Luella attended school in Ellendale and remained in this area her whole life.
At age 19, Luella married Glen Anderson, on January 21, 1944. Together, they enjoyed raising their four daughters and farming. They enjoyed gardening together and wintering down south in their motor home. Lou and Glen would go on many daily walks around town with their dog, visiting with neighbors and anyone they would meet.
Luella worked as a farmer's wife for many years before working at Land O' Lakes in New Richland for a few years and E.F. Johnson for over twenty years.
Luella was very involved in the Garden Club from its inception and had a passion for needlework, quilting, and crocheting. She enjoyed being an active member at LeSueur River Lutheran Church, helping with the ladies aid, altar guild, and quilting for missions. Lou also taught Sunday School and participated in Bible Study.

Harold Eugene Wayne of Geneva, Minnesota passed away on July 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Harold, a lover of all sports, storyteller and candy man to all children will be missed by many.
Harold, son of Arthur and Elma Wayne, was born April 2, 1930 in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
He attended college at St. Olaf in Northfield and the University of Minnesota. After college he worked for the Star Tribune newspaper in Minneapolis, MN and played on their amateur sports team. He met his wife Patricia Mattix there and they married in 1953 and returned to Geneva where they raised five children; Toni (Kirth) Smith, Wabasha; Laura Rogers, Colorado Springs; Bradley (Lynette) Wayne, Hastings; Todd (Mary) Wayne, Woodbury; Paul (Jennifer) Wayne, Blooming Prairie.
He lived all his life in Geneva, working with his father owning and operating Wayne Construction. He served on the Geneva Volunteer Fire Department, Geneva Cemetery Board, St. Johns Nursing Home Board of Directors and was inducted into the Freeborn County Softball Hall of Fame.

V. Henry Peterson, 89, passed away at his home on the farm site on June 29th, 2017.
He was raised on that farm and went to school in Ellendale. He graduated from school in ten years and went on to Bethel College for two years. Following Bethel College, he completed four years of schooling at Southern Baptist Seminary and became an ordained minister. In 1955, he came home because his father was ill. His father passed away and Henry continued to farm and kept his flock of sheep, until he was no longer able.
We would like to thank all the people who helped Henry during his illness, especially Tim Enzenauer.

Funeral services for Virginia E. Miller, age 93, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Virginia died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.
Virginia Elaine Miller was born September 26, 1923 in Bancroft Township to Hans and Grace (Hanson) Lund. She grew up on her parents’ farm in Bath Township and attended the country school there. In her youth, she liked to play practical jokes on her family members and occasionally she got her brothers to help her. On November 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to Herman J. Miller in Owatonna, Minnesota and were married for sixty years until his passing in October 2003. The marriage was blessed with four children, Gloria, Elaine, Larry, and Colleen. Like many women of her generation, Virginia stayed home and took care of her family. In addition to creating a home and caring for her family, she was a foster parent for many years to several children in need of a safe and loving home. Later in life, Virginia worked a few jobs outside of the home, but being a homemaker was her primary job. Virginia enjoyed embroidery, traveling to see friends and family, bus trips with the senior center, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune (guessing many right answers before the contestants), her pet cats, fabric painting, putting jigsaw puzzles together, word finds and word search puzzles, beating her family members at games of Scrabble, and baking. Virginia had a knack for entering drawings and winning several prizes throughout the years. Virginia was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church congregation and later the Bridge Community Church.

Danny Howard Schember, May 18, 1951, patriot, husband to Valerie Ann (Knutson), father to Summer Nicole Schultz (Wayne), and Brian Arnold J. Schember, grandfather to Elijah and Ava Schultz, Arianna Volkman, and Cody Schultz, second child born to Arnold and Eleanor (Fischer) Schember, brother of Norell, and nephew of a special aunt Ruth Fischer.
I have had a blessed life under my Christian faith. Some of the highlights are: former Steele County Jail Administrator (25 years), member Minnesota Patriot Guard, former member U.S. Army (Combat Medic), was up for the rank of E-6 after only 18 months in the Army, awarded Bronze Star, served in Vietnam from 1970-1971. I am also an Agent Orange Disabled Veteran, life member of the Owatonna VFW, member of the Owatonna American Legion, member of the American Legion Grandfather Club, life member of DAV, former board member of the Ellendale Clinic, former board member of the First Lutheran Cemetery Board (Treasurer), former member of the Ellendale Lions Club (President), instrumental in the fund raising and placement of Steele County’s first Veterans Monument that was placed at the Ellendale Cemetery, former EMT with the Ellendale Ambulance Service, former board member Minnesota State Jail Administrators, former member of the Ellendale School Board, former board member at the Owatonna Hospitality House, member of the Albert Lea High School Class of 1969.
