Billie R. Gunsolus, age 85 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Janesville United Methodist Church in Janesville with Rev. Bescye P. Burnett, officiating.  Interment was in the Alma City Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Saturday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Janesville United Methodist Church.  Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville handled arrangements.

Billie Ralph was born on December 12, 1925 in Freedom Township, Waseca County, Minnesota to Ralph and Anna (Winters) Gunsolus.  He graduated from Pemberton High School in 1943. Billie was united in marriage to Victoria Pennington on January 5, 1952 in Mankato.  They lived a short time in NE Iowa, then later moved to Minnesota, settling in the St. Clair area.

In 1959 the family moved to New Richland where he served at police chief.  On November 1, 1970 Billie began a long career as a Waseca County Sheriff’s Deputy.  Billie married Beverley Hruska on November 20, 1981, and they resided in Waseca a short time before moving to Janesville.  He retired from law enforcement on October 31, 1984.  He and Bev enjoyed doing crafts, and making necklaces out of church bulletins.  Billie was a longtime member of the Janesville United Methodist Church where he had been active in the Men’s Group, and had served on the church board.   

He is survived by his wife Beverley of Janesville; by his daughters Annamae (Ron) Holzworth of Menahga, and Cindy Gunsolus of Park Rapids; by his sister Marjorie Ward of St. Paul; by his brothers-in-law Glenn (Mary Ann) Hruska of Madelia, and Dean Hruska of Grand Forks; by many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife Victoria; by his brother Lee (Sylvia) Gunsolus.
