Syvilla Marie Stenzel, age 74, of New Richland, MN, died Saturday, February 4, 2017 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN, with Fr. Andrew Vogel officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Syvilla was born May 10, 1942, in Granite Falls, MN, the daughter of Ansil Jack Charles and Edna Roe Virginia (Skaug) Mills, and graduated from Lakeville High School. She was united in marriage to Maynard Stenzel August 19, 1961 at St. Casimir Church in Wells, MN, and to this union 5 children were born. Syvilla was a homemaker and helped Maynard farm. She also worked as a CNA in New Richland for many years. Syvilla loved to tend to her many gardens. She enjoyed crafts, making flower arrangements and wreaths. She always had a spotless home. Syvilla was a bird watcher, especially cardinals. She also had a collection of roosters, including her pet rooster, Soup. Syvilla and Maynard loved traveling to Florida and watching the sunsets together. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Jack, Danny and Jerry.
Syvilla is survived by her husband of 55 years Maynard; children: Dawn (Gary) Strohman of Owatonna, MN, Donna Kay Nuss of Sarasota, FL, Jarrod (Kelly) Stenzel, Rosemount, MN, Dayna Besser of Ellendale, MN, Jason (Stacy) Stenzel of Waseca, MN; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings: Donna Jean of AR, Roger (Cindy) Mills of Rosemount, MN, and Tommy Mills of Farmington, MN; sister-in-law: Sylvia Mills of LA.
