It’s time for the annual old-fashioned country town celebration in downtown Ellendale.

This year’s event will be held this weekend, June 23-26, and many businesses have been preparing and plan to offer some great Ellendale Days specials.

The Ellendale Commercial Club, fire department and ambulance crew, Lions Club, Sportsman’s Club, the NRHEG wrestling team, the Ellendale Community Action Group and local churches have also been busy preparing.

Thursday, June 23

The Dan Stursa Band will provide some great music from 6 to 9 p.m. on the City Stage.

A playground glow run will be held in the City Park starting at 7, and the newly-formed Ellendale Community Action Group will offer a night of Bingo in the Community Building starting at 7. Bring the kids. Local businesses are donating all the prizes, and there will be free popcorn.

Friday, June 24

A Family Movie Night is planned by the Ellendale Ambulance crew for Friday night at the Community Center.

The B-Side Band will perform a great selection of music on the City Stage starting at 7, and the Lions Club will hold a meat raffle.

From 9:30-12:30, music by the High Adventure Band will be heard from behind the bar and Sportsman’s Club food stand.

Saturday, June 25

The NRHEG wrestling team will host a golf tournament at Riverview Golf Course Saturday morning at 8, and many residents plan to take part in city wide garage sales, also scheduled to start at 8.

Starting at 9, the Lions Club will host a car show near the bus garage; they will serve coffee and rolls. The Lions will open their food tent downtown at 9.

From 9-2, a craft and vendor show will be held next to Floors 4-U, and at 10 a number of other activities will get underway, beginning with a double-elimination bean bag tournament behind the bar.

A canvas painting event is scheduled at the Community Building, also at 10. The cost is $30, and people need to contact Renee at 369-5395 if they plan to participate. People will also be able to participate in flag painting at 10, or a child/adult turtle painting at 1.

At 2 p.m., students from Happy Feet Dance Studio will share their talents on the community stage.

The annual Ellendale Days Parade will get underway at 4.  Plans are to repeat the same parade route as last year, so get your chairs out early and mark your spot.

From 4-7, the Ellendale Lions will provide games for the kiddies behind the bank. The Lions Club also plans to hold turtle races on 2nd St., beginning at 5. You don't want to miss the kiddie tractor pull on 2nd St. at 6 p.m.

The Ellendale Commercial Club will begin serving its annual pork chop supper at 5 at the Community Building. That will be followed by music, music and more music. Todd and Roger Utpadel will perform from 7-8, a teen dance is being sponsored by the Ellendale Fire Department beginning at 8 at the Community Building, and a street dance featuring Wicked Renegade will be held from 9-12.

Food stands will be located throughout the downtown area.

Sunday, June 26

A Community Church Service will be held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock in the City Park. The Lions Club plans to have lunch available following the service.

Beginning at 11, the Ellendale Lions Club will host the annual tractor pull down by the bus garage. They will also have a food stand.
