It’s time for another running of the words column. I guess if spoken it would be a “flowing at the mouth” or a “wagging of the tongue”—anyway, it’s still “fact or fiction” – you decide.

Have you noticed that many restrooms no longer have paper towels? (Just hand dryers.)

If you park your car by the emergency room at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, be prepared. We parked just as a helicopter landed that we didn’t see coming. There was a loud roar and the car shook; my first reaction was a tornado! The closest parking stall is very close to the heliport that we weren’t aware of.

Going to Owatonna on I35, we passed a semi with the following lettering on the back: “Our most valuable asset sits 63 feet ahead.”

Take note, all you Thrivent members. You are eligible to apply for a $250 grant. The program is called “Live Generously.” Genie applied and received $250 for Vacation Bible School.

Be sure your cruise control is set at the legal speed when traveling the Avenue of the Saints Highway in Iowa. In many cases your speed is monitored by camera. If over the limit, you just might get a ticket in the mail. (The fine is $65 in a 55 zone—trust me, I know from a registered letter.)

Two Albert Lea good ol’ boys had an exciting Memorial Day driving experience. Instead of “don’t drink and drive” it was “don’t drive in drink” (they received a very expensive car wash).

Thinking positively of the Twins, there are two or three days a month when they don’t lose a game. (They don’t have a game scheduled.)

Bert, the great Twins TV announcer, declared that he will change his crew cut to a brightly-dyed Mohawk if the Twins win 10 in a row. “Go Twins, go.”

Deb, secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, gave me a chocolate-covered doughnut on National Doughnut Day, Friday, June 2. She knows all about “Minnesota Nice”—“this is most certainly true.” Thanks, Deb.

Bev and Wayne Indrelie, (507) 826-3267, plus Genie and I, (507) 373-8655) are co-chairs of F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely on God) of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. It is an outreach ministry to promote fun, food and fellowship to all attendees of a F.R.O.G. event, regardless of their church or no church affiliation.

The following F.R.O.G. activities are planned for the future:

• Tuesday, July 26: Bus to the Twins. Departs at 4 p.m. from behind Slumberland in Albert Lea.

• Saturday, December 3: Christmas by the Lake in Clear Lake, IA. Bus departs at 3 p.m. from Albert Lea, meal included after Christmas parade and fireworks.

• Saturday, February 4, 2017: Valentine’s party with Norwegian Bingo at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Begins at 6 p.m. with pizza, followed by 16 games of bingo and an ice cream bar.

• Sunday, April 2, 2017: Church Basement Ladies performance (three ladies and three men) at Plymouth Playhouse Theatre. Bus departs at 11 a.m. from behind Slumberland in Albert Lea. Meal included on way back.

P.S. As of this column, there are about 15 seats left on the Twins 57-passenger coach bus.
